Unraveled

Unraveled

video, found sweaters, digital prints, acrylic, wood
2007

This installation revolves around a three hour-long projected video loop. The video shows a grid of four separate performances where I tediously unraveled sweaters off of my body. The viewer (or voyeur) may come and go throughout the day, checking on the progress of the video. The rest of the gallery space is filled with evidence of the act. Four framed digital prints span the walls adjacent to the video. The frames contain life-size digital prints scanned from remnants of the sweaters.  The leftover fragments are pieces together and stretched out as if to mimic animal pelts or shed skins. A center pedestal displays the actual sweater remains, boxed up and preserved in clear acrylic cases.
